Still Life
Still life Self-Assessment Questions
1. To be honest, I didn't really think about all the "elements" of art. I just made sure that I didn't have too much negative space so it wouldn't end up looking empty. But looking at it I think it's a successful composition.
2. I don't think I used a wide of rand of values as I could have, however I did. I'm specifically referring to how I very sparingly use the darkest of shades about four times in small spaces. These spaces being the ring of the glass bottle, the inside of the "A", the petal on the flower on the mug, and some dark rectangles on the tissue box(Including the bar code).
3. See now, this is an interesting question. I've never actually done anything like this before... ever. Since I typically prefer to cel-shade my art I only ever need 3 different values so splitting it into 9 was actually pretty fun.
4. Blending really only became a problem when I was doing the
5. In this picture the only thing that I really had to worry about texture wise was the glass, and that kinda solved its self by making it see though and having something actually in it. Being 100% honest I never really had to worry about the texture the whole time I was drawing the photo because many of the things that took up the most space were plastic, so everything pretty much fell into place.
6. If I could do anything with this it would be change where I started the drawing, and make everything wider. Everything in the drawing is actually taller than their real life counter part. This might have stemmed from the fact that I started with the tissue box and made it too small and everything else followed.
